The stars aligned yet again on the carpeted steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art for Met Gala. This theme this time was "A Garden in Time," which was based on the theme of Costume Institute's new exhibit "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion. "As one would assume, the carpet was paraded with floral fairytale-esque attires and radiance of diamonds. Let’s delve into the notable diamond moments of this year.
Dua Lipa
Pop sensation Dua Lipa was the co-chair of the event, and was dressed like one. Her wore a dramatic black lace attire with sheer detailing. She accessorised with a magnificent 18 carat yellow gold necklace with diamonds of over 22 carats in total. She added more bling with diamond earrings and rings. All of these dazzling pieces were from Tiffany & Co.
Sydney Sweeney
Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney embodied a runaway princess in a floral powdered blue Miu Miu gown. Her all new short black bob and an equally dark velvet pair of gloves added the ‘wow’ factor. But the whole look is complete with a dainty De Beers ‘Alchemist of Light’ diamond drop necklace. A special collection popular for its interesting light and shadow play.
Anok Yai
Ditching the floral theme of the night, Supermodel Anok Yai went for an unforgettable celestial look. She donned a skin-tight jumpsuit with 98,000 Swarovski, glistening like a mirror ball. She completed her look with a statement diamond necklace, earrings, and rings. Yai was one of the brightest shining stars on the carpet.
Gigi Hadid
Gigi Hadid was right on theme with her elaborate ivory floral gown, old hollywood hairstyle, and classic cherry red lips. The dreamy gown weighed about 40 pounds, but the supermodel carried it effortlessly. She colour coordinated her outfit and jewellery by wearing a diamond tennis necklace with strips of white and pale yellow diamonds. She paired it with Chopard's diamond drop earrings.
Alia Bhatt
Representing India at fashion’s biggest event was Alia Bhatt in ace designer Sabyasachi’s saree. Exuding royalty in her theme-appropriate attire, Alia’s choice of jewellery was interesting. Her matha-patti, pendant earrings and stack of rings consisted of emeralds, sapphires, tourmalines, vintage Basra pearls, and natural diamonds.
Amidst the ever-changing landscapes of fashion, where trends change, one thing stands stock still; the eternal magnetism of diamonds. It's safe to say, even at the Met outing, the success of an outfit hinges on the charm of diamonds.
