The first lady of Indian Business, Nita Ambani has etched out an identity for herself, as a connoisseur of arts and culture. A Bharatnatyam dancer herself, the matriarch of the wealthiest family in India has great fondness for textiles, jewels, performance and heritage art.
Off lately, her refined taste in high jewellery has been the talk of the town. The recent grand wedding of Radhika and Anant Ambani, was all about glitz, glamour and luxury. The who’s who of the world showed up at this opulent affair. The hosts and guests alike, paraded in the best fits and their most prized jewellery pieces. Yet, it was Nita Ambani’s fine jewels that caught everyone's eye.
It’s not the first time that Mrs. Ambani has dazzled in the most marvellous jewels. Her love for priceless gems has been apparent for years through her public appearances. Let’s have a look at five of the most staggeringly expensive and valued pieces of jewels she has worn so far.
$7.5 Million Emerald-Diamond Necklace
The saga of the Ambani family’s special love for Emerald is known to all. You will lose count of the times Nita Ambani has been seen wearing fantastical emeralds. However, one of these striking green jewels stood out the most. In a pre-wedding festivity, Nita was seen wearing a gigantic rock-like emerald diamond necklace. It's valued at around $7.5 million, and it took about 3 years to make. Its centerpiece emerald weighs a whopping 863 carats. To preserve its rarity, the emerald was not subjected to any refinement. It was simply embedded in its natural state. The 52-carat diamonds used in this necklace are straight from the Mughal era. Nita completed this look with an equally impressive diamond ring costing about $6.5 million.
Shah Jahan’s Regal Bajuband
Nita Ambani’s love for Mughal-era jewels didn’t stop with the pre-wedding diamond ring. At the Miss World 2024 pageant, Mrs Ambani was seen wearing a splendiferous gem studded bajuband. This ornament once adorned Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan’s royal turban. It is a kalgi-shaped armband made of gold, rubies and diamonds. It makes use of the Pachhikakaam technique; an intricate style that Indian jewellers developed inspired by the European claw setting. Its dimensions are 19.8 cm in width and 13.7 cm in height. This iconic accessory is speculated to cost about $495,000.
The Dazzling Heart-Shaped Diamond Ring
Mother-daughter duo, Nita and Isha Ambani are often seen borrowing from each other’s jewellery collection. For her son Anant’s sangeet ceremony, Neeta looked graceful in a dazzling pink Falguni Shane Peacock lehenga. She also wore a statement diamond choker, a matha patti, and matching earrings. This ensemble was laced with lotus motifs and rare rose-cute diamonds throughout. However, it was a giant heart-shaped diamond ring that grabbed all the attention. It turns out that it was the same ring Isha Ambani had worn at a Diwali party in 2023. As anyone would guess, this ring costs millions of dollars.
Kundan and Polki Emerald Jewels
When it comes to emeralds, you can trust the Ambanis to pull out the finest pieces available. On the occasion of the inauguration of her dream project, NMACC (Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre) in March 2023, Nita looked elegant as ever in a Kundan and Polki Emerald set. The jhumkas featured an attached ear chain and Kundans on the border, with inlaid Polki diamonds. Complementing this, she wore a vintage emerald jadau neckpiece, also made of diamonds and gold. This antique jewellery is believed to be a belonging of the Nizam of Hyderabad.
Iconic 12-Carat Diamond Necklace
Although Nita Ambani made quite a splash with her jewellery looks at her son's wedding, she has been making this statement with her style for years. One example is her exquisite choice of adornments at her daughter's wedding. At Isha Ambani’s wedding, she donned a necklace that featured a breathtaking 12-carat heart-shaped diamond surrounded by smaller diamonds. It is said to be worth millions of dollars, highlighting her fondness for luxurious jewellery. Her every appearance is unforgettable because of her poise and elegance. Of course, the amazing choice of adornment plays a part too.
